Although there are some todos in my current section I only get an empty page with the names of the selected tags but not the tags themselves.
I tried it several times with different kinds of tags (Project A, Project B) but always get the same result: no tags collected, only the names of the selected tags at the top of an empty page.
With other macros it does work to get a list of the found tags but I would prefer this one.
Any hint what might be wrong?

Hello,

Would it be possible to have an option to avoid dim tags while creating the tag summary page?
I write to do action items in different project pages and then create a summary each day. To avoid duplication of tags, I dim tags on daily page. If I use this macro on the next day, it creates summary for even the dim tags as well as original to do tags.

Would be nice if the search could be isolated to the section group. Rather than have multiple notebooks I use section groups. The Current Section filter searches all the section groups and is not helpful

this macro keeps bringing tags already checked (completed) when you select the option to only bring tag that are unchecked.

IMHO, that has to be fixed!! the bug has been live for a long time now.

This macro 'Tag Summary for Specific Tag' keeps bringing checked tags even when the option to only retrieve unchecked tags is selected.

I think I saw on one of your logs that the bug was fixed but it hasn't been at least in my end.

It would be great if we had the ability to select which Notebook, section group, section, and pages we wanted the summary to look through. I want to compile 2 notebooks worth of TO-DO tags but there isn't a great way to do it now. I either run it by all of the notebooks (which typically causes it to crash) or I run them by the individual sections groups and then copy and paste from each group into one master page. Not sure how feasible that is.

I am running this macro, but it is showing both checked and non-checked items. I do not know why. All items are on a single OneNote page, in one notebook. I don't know what other info would be pertinent, so please ask if I can provide anything else to help you fix this macro.

The right combination of this macro and your Tag Summary with Page Names would be awesome - that other filters out deleted pages and shows section names, but doesn't filter out checked tags and doesn't have the multiple tag search this one has.

Cal: The macro finds paragraphs that have both of the tags you enter. So it will find a paragraph that has To Do and Important tags both at the same time. It won't find paragraphs that have only To Do or only Important tags. I can see why you may want that but that just isn't what this macro does.

Cecil: This macro never displayed the icon associated with the tag in the generated list. Since the generated list is for a specific selected tag, all the items would have the same tag anyways.

Really cool that this was possible; unfortunately, it's not usable for me. Having to add custom tags manually was okay, but the summary page it generates does not copy tagged images (the way the built-in summary page does) and takes quite a long time.

For now I will continue generating the native summary pages and deleting the tag summaries I don't want.

One request for Todo's, it would be great to be able to have a page of Todo's and then after checking them complete, have them moved to a subpage of all completed todo's with complete date...maybe subpage would have many paragraphs dated with their completed todos...this keeps your todo page cleaner.

Mike Josephson: This is expected if you have a lot of pages under the scope you are searching. If you are searching under All Notebooks and you have hundreds of pages, the macro needs to read every single page, process them(look for tags) check if those tags matches what you requested for and generate the output page. Reading every single page takes time if you have lots of pages.

I am decidedly a OneNote advocate. In my opinion this is the largest gap in OneNote. IE, the ability to search for a specific tag. I was excited to see this macro being offered up. I successfully edited the macro to include my custom tags. The challenge is that upon launching the search I get a Running Maco dialog box which loops from "Reading page contents" to "Processing page contents" for literally 10 minutes before publishing the results. I tried two different searches with approximately the same results.

Adding Custom Tags to Dropdown Menu:
Click: Edit Macros; Tag Summary for Specific Tag; Export
Use CTRL+A, CTRL+C to copy all
Click Import
Use CTRL+V to paste
Type the titles of your custom tags into the FIFTH LINE. Like so: <Prompt type="dropdown" initialValue="[DEFAULT CUSTOM TAG HERE!]" values="[OTHER TAGS HERE!];To Do;Important;Question;Remember for later;Definition;Highlight;Contact;Address;Phone number">Choose tag name</Prompt>

It doesn't matter if you have spaces in the titles. Don't use spaces between titles.
Modified tag titles are not retroactive, so if you tagged something "Important" and then renamed it "Important and Urgent", you'll get an error when running the macro intending to compile "Important and Urgent" tags.
If, after setting this up, you modify tag titles, you'll have to come back and repeat this process.
